Join us for the Celebration of the Arts Gala…
One of Howard County’s premier fundraising events and an important showcase for local performing and visual artists who help enhance our quality of life. Enjoy a fun-filled evening of art and entertainment featuring culinary delights courtesy of local restaurants, a fine art auction of local artwork, and incredible performances by rising and guest stars. This event is our main source of private and corporate funding and helps to support our grant and scholarship programs, as well as our education programs for children and adults throughout the year.
Food Sponsors for the Celebration of the Arts gala are invited to create an artistic display table to showcase their delectable edibles at our signature event. Each year, we recognize three food sponsors with outstanding presentation awards.
All of the proceeds from this annual fundraising gala are reinvested in the community to advance the arts. We are very proud of our ability to give back so much to the community, but we cannot do so without the support of our local businesses and business leaders.

Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.

About the HoCo. Rec & Parks- Orange Crush Jr Olympic Wrestling Team: VIPERS Wrestling, a community based organization with a geographic center in Columbia, it has been a Howard County Parks and Recreation program for over two decades. The Viper’s mission is to provide the youth of Howard County the opportunity to experience the great sport of wrestling in a fun, structured, and disciplined program. The VIPERS, which are coached exclusively by volunteers, had 364 kids participate in our 2016-2017 wrestling program. We offered three levels of wrestling: clinic, recreation and travel. The clinic program offers children the opportunity to experience wrestling in a non-competitive environment. The recreation program is semi-competitive, while the travel program offers the best youth wrestling training in Maryland. We teach our wrestlers how to become excellent young adults by instilling the intangibles they will need to excel in life. We concentrate on the things we can control in the wrestling room: effort, discipline, focus, and mental and physical conditioning. It is all summarized in our name: VIPERS is an acronym that stands for victory, intensity, pride, endurance, respect and success.
